Is hospice right for you or your loved one?

When is the best time to discuss hospice?

Now is the best time to learn more about hospice and ask questions about what to expect from hospice services.  Although end-of-life care may be difficult to discuss, it's best for family members to share their wishes long before it becomes a concern.

What is
Hospice Care?

Hospice care helps patients manage all of their medical needs with an emphasis on comfort and maintaining a quality of life.  Hospice care may be provided in the comfort of someone's home or in a facility.  Hospice services are provided to the patients as well as their family and loved ones.

What does
Hospice provide?

Hospice covers all medical needs relating to patient's hospice diagnosis.  Hospice care includes, but is not limited to, the following: most DME (Durable Medical Equipment) medical supplies (i.e.-briefs, supplemental nutrition), medications, and 24/7 on-call clinical staff support.

How is Hospice
paid for?

Generally, hospice is a Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance benefit.  Care is also provided to patients who wish to pay privately.  For patients who have no coverage or for uninsured patients, we provide indigent care when available.

how do i start?

Once a patient is deemed hospice appropriate, a request or referral is made by the patient's doctor.  A Hospice staff member will then contact the patient and/or family to begin the admission process.  Hospice services may begin immediately following the completion of the admission process (providing ample time for the patient and family to meet the Hospice direct care staff).
